Chair
New York, N.Y.
Frank Avila-Goldman proudly joins a long list of local advocates fighting to protect the future for subsidized housing developments along the Lower East Side. In 2019, after months of local organizing, Frank helped form the Lower East Side East River Residents Committee, a group of affordable housing/NYCHA leaders tasked to best represent the resiliency needs of their directly impacted waterfront communities.

In addition Frank is also the president of Gouverneur Gardens, an affordable housing development along the East River; secretary for Lower East Side Power Partnership, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the health, safety and educational needs of the community; and a founding member of Resilience PAC, a political action committee dedicated to advancing candidates who will ensure NYC adapts to a rapidly changing climate.

Frank has been an invited speaker on resiliency issues at Hunter College's Urban Policy & Planning Department; Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation; Syracuse University; and AIA New York, and he was the 2022 recipient of FABnyc’s LES Community Hero Award.
